The Men of Law and Order  Sam Waterston (Jack McCoy)I don't have a daddy complex. Really, I don't. Proof of this will be found in every single other man I have proposed for this section -- Keanu, Evan and Jaron, etc etc. I generally like my male lust-meat young, dark and very very pretty. I was going to do Gael Garcia Bernard this time and then decided I was becoming WAY too predictable, and thought instead: "Who do I adore who doesn't fit my usual pattern?" And the answer was, of course, Sam Waterston. I know he's getting on a bit, but in the earlier L&O seasons (which, living in the States, I have the luxury of watching TNT every weekday from 3pm onwards) he's younger and fitter. But even older, I just love Sam. He's so WISE and BALANCED and TRUSTWORTHY, and although I disagree with him sometimes (yes, yes, I know McCoy is a fictional character), you always know that he has really thought through his decisions and is acting on principle. And I adore that scruffy duffel coat and the motorbike (though he's not riding that so much now, with the increasing years). Sam isn't smooth -- he feels real. And yes, OK, he would make a great dad… though I mean as father-figure, rather than for-my-children… 
Benjamin Bratt (Detective Curtis)Just look at him… I love Latino men. I love the olive skin and the dark melting eyes and, yes, the fantastic six-pack occasionally glimpsed when you see him in a t-shirt. And Curtis, his character, so adores his wife… he even left to look after her when she got MS… yes, he did have a little fidelity slip, but it was after witnessing a nasty execution and he told her about it straight away (idiot) and suffered penance and made amends… but basically, character issues aside, just look at him…  Jesse L Martin (Detective Green)If we're talking interracial dating preferences, I would pick Latino or Asian men over black guys, generally. Dunno why. But Jesse has such a twinkle in his naughty eyes, and such a gorgeous smile... he's pretty gorgeous, n'est-ce pas? Also he has a fabulous bod. Yum yum yum. Chris Noth (Detective Logan) 
He was hot on L&O! He really was! Even that awful brown leather jacket he wore (eerily reminiscent of Hawkins's, for Sam fans, though Hawkins's was even worse, being a blouson) couldn't dull his charm! But since L&O he has porked out and looks as if he's hitting the bottle way too much. I never fancied him on Sex and the City -- partly the Mr Big character was such a wanker (though perfect for that idiot commitment-phobe Carrie: imagine cheating on Aidan with him!), and partly Noth was just too out of shape and sleazy. He's not my top lust-object pick on L&O -- that has to be Benjamin. But I would definitely have thought about it if I'd met him then. Not now. Sorry, Chris. Kick the booze and hit the gym and maybe we can talk… |
