"One of the sexiest women ever to hit the big screen, Kathleen Turner caused many, many men and women to break into hot sweats without ever being a stick insect (no offence to the svelte Ms Hayter, but most of us were over the moon to see a sex goddess with some flesh on her bones). The voice of Jessica Rabbit - "I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way" - she's a throwback to the legendary days of Hollywood, where women were mad, bad and dangerous to know, rather than simpering little Gwyneth Paltrow prom princesses so wet they need wringing out before every take. Imagine Gwyneth ever being able to utter Kathleen's immortal lines to William Hurt in 'Body Heat': "You're not too smart, are you? I like that in a man."
Look at the roles Turner's played: dominatrix ('Crimes of Passion'), serial mom, (uh, 'Serial Mom'), femme fatale. Not a victim among them.
"I never play the victim, because I'm never attracted to a woman who doesn't try... can't find anything there," Turner said in a recent interview.
John Waters has said about her that she 'enjoys being evil'. But she also 'likes women directors, likes sharing things as women'. The VI Warshawski film was atrocious, but Turner was fabulous as the hard-boiled, ass-kicking detective.
Kathleen Turner is always fabulous. She once said: 'On a night when I feel really good about myself I can walk into a room, and if a man doesn't look at me he's probably gay.'
