Lipstick
As a young tart I thought the idea of skibble skibble skibbling all over New York City's Plaza Hotel and other exotic locales like Kay Thompson's delightful Eloise would be wonderful. As I matured (ha!) I realized the improbability of such behavior being met with amused tolerance. Now, for anyone wanting to recapture that spirit, or just experience their own meta-fiction moment while writing on a mirror, there is an "Eloise" shade of dark pink lipstick available from LORAC cosmetics. The Chelsea Hotel

Most people remember from it from seedier times, when Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols stabbed Nancy Spungen here. Times are a bit different now. This is the Chelsea Renaissance, with a bunch of books, movies and articles about the hotel appearing in the next year. The place retains some of its grotty charm though. Among the people who have lived and worked in this eccentric residential hotel in New York's Chelsea district: Sarah Bernhardt, Mark Twain, Edith Piaf, William Burroughs, Janis Joplin, Leonard Cohen (Cohen wrote a song about Joplin giving him "head on the unmade bed" here), Grace Slick, Patti Smith, Robert Mapplethorpe, Edie Sedgewick, Valarie Solanas, Arthur C. Clarke, Julian Schnabel, etc. etc. It has been, and still is, a famous trysting place for lovers ... and it's famously haunted as well. Has to be seen and experienced to be believed.
